This policy provides insurance to the contractor for loss or damage to Plant and Machinery for any unforeseen and sudden physical loss or damage from any cause not specifically excluded in a manner necessitating repair or replacement. The policy covers loss or damage to contractors’ plant and machinery;

  • Occurring at work or at rest after successful commissioning
  • Whilst being dismantled for cleaning and overhauling or in the course of the aforesaid operations themselves
  • In the course of subsequent re-erection, but in any case only after successful commissioning
  • Whilst at the location or in the geographic area agreed (Limited to a specific site/ geographical area)

The contractors’ plant and machinery policy does not provide Third Party Liability cover this must be arranged separately.

Mobile Equipment  

These are machinery needed to facilitate execution of erection or construction contracts which renders service only when moving under control of an operator and utilized on a construction site. Examples include Tunneling Machinery, Drilling Rigs and tractors, dump trucks, Steel-wheeled Roller, Graders etc.

Non Mobile Equipment  

This Plant & Equipment needed by the Contractor to facilitate execution of construction works such as formwork, batching plants, pumps, cranes, compressors, scaffolding, etc.

In order to place a Plant and Machinery insurance Policy, the client will need to provide the following details:-

  • Full Name of the client /proposer for insurance, Postal Address, Telephone Contact, PIN Number, Occupation (Business from which client derives his income)
  • Description of Plant & Machinery Items to be insured and their respective values and age including frame/ serial number
  • The Sum Insured is based strictly on New Replacement Value which includes cost of freight, customs, transit, erection, testing etc.
  • Engineers report for equipment/ machinery older than years
  • Description of the nature and type of contract
  • Site or Geographical situation of operations

 

 

 

In the event of an incident that may lead to a Machinery Breakdown Consequential Loss claim, the following documents will be required to process the claim:

  • A Duly completed Claim form.
  • Police abstract report (in case of theft, accidental or malicious damage).
  • Replacement/ repair quotation/ proforma invoice.
  • Statement on the circumstances of the loss from the insured.
  • Witness(es) statement(s).
  • An engineer’s report (in case of damage).
